Hum... it's a bit weird, has too shading, his arms are to small like vegetrunks said, if you are a begginer try to edit some sprites first, then when you have more experience, you make custom sprites, that's what I did.

Ok..First of all..His head..looks like its one of those emoticon smilies..due to the fact his skin is so..so..yellow..also..the body..it looks VERY deformed..

Layout? You mean instructions? Because if so,no,there isn't any.When editing sprites,you do it pixel by pixel on your own.UNLESS someone gives a SPECIFIC tutorial on how to do a certain thing.
