But it would make no sense, the reason he is called Trunks is because it fits with the family name puns which are all underwear jokes. It would be another vegetable joke, he would be... something else.

well not exactly. vegeta's sperm contains Trunks. Their fore, they have no created a paradox in which trunks could posssibly be born. The only problem is in fact, his name. It is just a simple pun, but somehow, that would just be impossible to have the same name. GOOD LUCK!

Man, you got it all wrong. A sperm only contains half of Trunks' Chromasomes. The other half would come from a female ova, which if changed, results in a different person.
